Terms of Use

1. Who we are

RotaMatch is a consumer app that helps shift workers plan around football fixtures, travel, weather, TV schedules, and related matchday tools. For questions about these Terms, contact support@rotamatch.app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or older if required by your local app store or law) to use RotaMatch. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

3. Intended use

RotaMatch is for personal, non-commercial use. You must not misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, scrape it at scale, reverse engineer it except where permitted by law, or use it for unlawful purposes.

4. Accounts and Membership ID

RotaMatch may create an anonymous account session so features like Premium entitlement checks and Match Friend Zone can work. Your Membership ID is an identifier associated with that session. You are responsible for activity on your device under that session. Do not share access with others if you want your Premium status or Friend Zone crew to remain private to you.

5. Free and Premium features

RotaMatch offers free features and paid Premium features. Premium may include, without limitation: following two teams, full TV schedules and broadcast regions, additional themes, rota import/export/backup tools, add-to-calendar tools, and other features marked as Premium in the app.

We may change which features are free or Premium, or introduce new paid features, with reasonable notice in the app or store listing where required. If a feature moves behind Premium, continued free access to that feature is not guaranteed.

6. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play, typically as monthly and yearly plans. Prices are shown in the app and confirmed by the store before purchase. Currency and local tax may vary by region.

Where offered, a free trial (for example 7 days) may be available. Introductory offers are subject to Apple/Google rules. Usually you can only use one free trial/introductory offer per subscription group, so using a monthly trial typically means you cannot also claim a yearly free trial afterward.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or as otherwise required by the store). Managing, pausing, or cancelling subscriptions is done in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not inside RotaMatch payment processing.

If you do not cancel before renewal, you authorise the store to charge the renewal fee.

7. Refunds and store disputes

Payments, billing disputes, and refunds for App Store or Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. RotaMatch does not process card payments directly and cannot guarantee a refund. Contact Apple or Google first for billing issues. You may also email support@rotamatch.app and we will help where we reasonably can.

8. Complimentary or overridden Premium access

We may grant complimentary Premium access (for example via Membership ID allowlist) for support, testing, press, partners, or goodwill. Complimentary access can be changed or revoked at any time. It does not create an ongoing right to free Premium and does not cancel or refund any paid subscription you separately purchased through Apple or Google.

9. Restore purchases

If you reinstall the app or change device, use Restore purchases to refresh store entitlement. Restore depends on the same Apple/Google account that made the purchase. We are not responsible if entitlement cannot be restored because a different store account is signed in.

10. Not advice — use your own judgement

RotaMatch is a planning aid only. It is not medical, legal, financial, employment, or professional advice. Shift suggestions and planning tools are guidance, not guarantees. Always verify your own rota, employer rules, ticket conditions, travel arrangements, and match information before making decisions.

We are not responsible for missed matches, late arrivals, ticket losses, employment consequences, or other outcomes that result from relying on the Service.

11. Travel and matchday information is a guide only

All travel and matchday information shown in RotaMatch — including journey times, leave-by times, driving or public-transport estimates, distances, routes, weather, and related planning suggestions — is indicative guidance only. It must not be treated as accurate, complete, real-time, or suitable as the sole basis for travel decisions.

Estimates may be wrong or out of date because of traffic, roadworks, weather, public-transport disruption, events, routing-provider errors, map data limits, or changes at the venue. Always allow extra time and check official travel, transport, club, and competition sources before you leave.

You remain solely responsible for your travel plans and for arriving on time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for late arrivals, missed matches, wasted travel costs, or other loss arising from reliance on travel or matchday estimates in the Service.

12. Fixture, TV, live scores, and third-party data

Fixture times, venues, competitions, broadcast or TV listings, live scores, scorers, and weather may change, be delayed, or be incomplete. Data may come from third-party sources accessed via our backend (including Football-Data.org, API-Football / API-Sports, third-party sports schedule providers for kick-off times and TV listings, Open-Meteo, postcodes.io, and routing providers). We do not warrant that any such information is accurate, complete, or up to date.

Always check official club, competition, broadcaster, and travel sources before you travel or make plans.

13. Calendar, imports, and device permissions

When you choose to add a fixture to your calendar or import/export data, RotaMatch uses device permissions you grant for that purpose. You can revoke permissions in system settings. You are responsible for reviewing calendar events and imported rota data before relying on them.

14. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful, personal, non-abusive purposes
• Provide accurate information where you choose to enter it (for example, a Match Friend Zone first name or nickname)
• Not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the Service or its APIs beyond normal app use
• Not use Match Friend Zone or other features to harass, impersonate, or harm others

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.

15. Match Friend Zone

If you use Match Friend Zone, you are responsible for the display name and information you share with crew members. Do not share sensitive personal data. We may remove abusive, unlawful, or harmful content or access where reasonably necessary.

16. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep RotaMatch reliable, but the Service or parts of it may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, network issues, third-party outages, or circumstances beyond our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. We are not liable for temporary interruptions.

17. Intellectual property and trademarks

The RotaMatch name, logo, app design, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service without our prior written permission.

RotaMatch is an independent application developed by Richard O'Brien. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any football club, league, competition organiser, broadcaster, or rights holder.

Team names, competition titles, crests, and logos shown in the app are used solely to display publicly available fixture, results, and TV schedule information for your personal planning. All trademarks, badges, and logos remain the property of their respective owners.

Always confirm kick-off times, tickets, and travel with official club and competition sources before you travel.

Fixture and results data may be sourced from public schedules and third-party data providers (for example Football-Data.org and public sports feeds). RotaMatch does not claim ownership of that data.

18. App stores

If you download RotaMatch from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another store, that store's terms also apply. Those stores are not responsible for providing the Service or for these Terms, except as required by the store's rules. In-app purchases and subscriptions are also subject to the relevant store's billing terms.

19. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we do not guarantee the accuracy of travel, fixture, TV, weather, or other planning information.

20. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RotaMatch and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including reliance on travel estimates or other planning information, or subscription billing handled by Apple/Google.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

21. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the RotaMatch developers from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or content/information you submit (including Friend Zone display names), except to the extent caused by our fraud or wilful misconduct.

22. Termination

You may stop using RotaMatch at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or create risk to other users or the platform. Ending app use does not automatically cancel a paid store subscription — cancel that separately in App Store / Google Play settings.

23. Privacy

How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you also acknowledge that policy.

24. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice in the app or on the website. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where local law requires additional consent.

25. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also benefit from mandatory protections in your country of residence.
